Good sleep analytics. This is where the Nanit shines-sleep tracking, activity feeds and more:.A big plus: the audio streams even when the app is closed-an advantage over competing streaming monitors like Nest.
As for the audio, we’d rate this as good-much better than the original Nanit. We’ve seen a lot of video monitors over the years-and this one finally lives up to the billing of HD. But Nanit does a good job with cord management, hiding it in a stand or wall-mounted conduit. One hazard to mounting a monitor over a crib is the cord, which could be a choking hazard. The Nanit is designed to sit directly over the crib for a bird’s eye view of baby-this eliminates blind spots common in other monitors designed to sit on a dresser. Also: if you have only spotty or slow WiFi, this isn’t the monitor for you. you use your phone (or a re-purposed tablet) to monitor baby. One quick caveat to the Nanit: like other streaming monitors, the Nanit does NOT have a dedicated parent unit. After testing the monitor for a week, we are happier with the revised version. Readers of our past reviews on the Nanit will note that we were only lukewarm on the original Nanit-the lack of volume, no two-way talk and the expense of the added “Nanit Insights” held back the monitor.įortunately, Nanit addressed these flaws with the revised Nanit Plus: the volume level issue is now fixed, there is a two-way intercom feature and now you get one year of Nanit Insights for free. It provides the best quality picture and a companion app that actually works well as a baby monitor-which is unusual for this segment.
I’m concerned the power outage did something, but it seems like a software issue so that’s confusing.Nanit Plus Video Baby Monitor is our top pick for best streaming monitor for 2022. He’s in a new sleep sack, but I made sure it’s not too loose and it worked fine prior to the power outageĪ few weeks ago we pulled the crib out from the wall for safety (so he can’t reach outlets/plugs) and I saw that’s one of the support questions, but I don’t see how that could be the issue when it’s worked great for a few weeks and suddenly has issues beginning yesterday. It repeatedly pops up saying breathing wear not detected and then will suddenly say it’s working again OR I have to manually tell it where it is and then it works briefly again. He was even wearing breathing wear and it was tracking it for the most part except… However, time zone is correct in settings) I know sleep insights can take time to update, but usually the “last attended” / “last woke up” updates pretty quickly. I’m now thinking it changed time zones somehow? Because a lot of the times appear to be off by an hour. (Edit: ok so the nap is showing up, but it says he woke up at 1:38. He napped from 12-2:40 today and as of 5 pm it says his bed was last attended over 5 hours ago. It’s not accurately showing when the baby woke up. There were no objects in the crib and sheets are the nanit ones.
It says he fell asleep last night at 7 pm, but I didn’t put him in his crib until 7:40 pm. It’s not accurately showing when my baby fell asleep. We had a power outage yesterday and since then the Nanit hasn’t been working right.
